The Oakland Athletics, originally based in Philadelphia as the Philadelphia Athletics, was founded in 1901. They moved to Kansas City in 1955, and to Oakland in 1968, changing their name both times to reflect their respective new location (Knasas City Athletic's; Oakland Athletic's). The Oakland Athletic's, also known as the Oakland "A's" or "The White Elephants", are in the the Western Division of the Amercian League.
This is a team with a famous roster of hisotric players. If they can play up to the roster caliber of their past - Rollie Fingers, Catfish Hunter, Reggie Jackson, Dave Stewart, Joe Morgan - they'll have a phenomenial 2009 spring training.
