The get their "Twins" name form the Twin Cities of Minneapolis and St. Paul Minnesota. The team was one of the original charter teams of the American League started back in 1901. The Twins started in Washington DC as the Washington Senators, but after two years had a name change to the Washington Nationals. Eventually, due to fans use and press use, the Senaor name was revived and once again became the offical name of the team. In 1961 the team moved to Minnesota and has enjoyed strong fan support ever since.
