Twins Team Report (Yahoo! Sports) Beefing up a bullpen that has been without All-Star closer Joe Nathan all season, the Twins traded for another All-Star closer on Thursday. Right-hander Matt Capps was acquired from Washington in for two minor-leaguers. Capps, the winning pitcher in the All-Star Game this month, was 26-for-30 in save opportunities for Washington this year, including a scoreless inning in Thursday's win over the Braves. He will give the Twins another option to right-hander Jon Rauch in the ninth inning. In exchange for Capps, Washington received catcher Wilson Ramos and left-handed reliever Joe Testa. Ramos, 22, made his big-league debut for the Twins in May, and he went 8-for-27 (.296) in seven games before he was optioned back to the minors.

Roy Oswalt granted his own wish: He's now part of a pennant race. Miguel Tejada, Jorge Cantu and Matt Capps joined the mix, too. The trade wheel of fortune kept spinning Thursday with veterans-for-prospects deals that typically dot the stretch run. More swaps were expected before Saturday's 4 p.m.

The All-Star break was a welcomed rest for the Minnesota Twins. It was also quite the revival. They're only 14 games into the second half, but by outscoring their opponents 97-50 and going 10-4 they've rediscovered their energy and confidence even if the success was perhaps tenuously driven by playing weak teams.

OK, so what if they did all their damage against a couple of last-place clubs? The Minnesota Twins don't care.
